Tips for G Suite: Edit Notification Settings for Google Classroom

Did you know that we have over 3,000 staff members registered as teachers in Google Classroom across our district? We are excited to see so many folks using Google Classroom for instructional support, professional development, and student clubs/groups.

This week, we are sharing tips on how to edit your notification settings in Google Classroom. Depending on how you are using Google Classroom, you may wish to setup your notification preferences to maximize your productivity.

To access your notification settings, go to classroom.google.com and click on the "hamburger" three lines on the top left corner of the page:

Scroll down on the menu bar and click on "Settings":

Once on the settings page, scroll down to see the notifications settings:

The settings are divided into three categories- comments, classes you are enrolled in (as a student), and classes you teach. You can turn on/off the email notifications by clicking on the sliders on the right side of the screen. Please note that at this time you cannot customize notification settings by class- these settings will apply to all classrooms you are a part of in Google Classroom.

If you have the Google Classroom App, you can enable device notifications with the same set of slider options on the app.

We hope you find these tips helpful to reduce your email notifications while making sure you are still notified of important updates.
